Each participant is allocated a square of London which they then recreate in their own individual styles to form a collective snapshot of London from one-hundred personal view points, forming a unique showcase of British architectural heritage. The works are to be auctioned off by Sotheby’s on 14th November at Somerset House, with all proceeds of the sale going to Article 25, the charity that builds solutions to global problems.
‘The upper parts of the composition show the scene illustrated with different media, from pen, through watercolour and then to a 3D reconstruction of Inigo Jones’ originally built façade for the Banqueting House, superimposed with a photograph from today. The lower part of the composition conveys the differing characters of Whitehall, its sedate grandeur often flooded with people or traffic, all whilst the Old War Office majestically commands the corner.’ – Joseph Robson November 2012.
